Support for Researchers

IIMCB is much more than just state-of-the-art laboratories. It is a place where scientists can rely on comprehensive support in their everyday research work. From assistance with grant applications, through administrative services and IT support, to promotional and public relations activities — the IIMCB team ensures that you can focus on what matters most: your science. Here, you are never alone — you are part of a community that supports both your research and your career development.

The Scientific Coordination Unit supports scientists at the IIMCB in maintaining high standards of integrity and transparency in research, in accordance with legal regulations and best practices.

  • We advise on open science practices, in line with the guidelines of research funding agencies.
  • We update and disseminate the scientific output of IIMCB researchers through the website and the Polish Scientific Bibliography (PBN – Polska Bibliografia Naukowa).
  • We coordinate research data management.
  • We provide consultations on ethical issues in grant applications and reports.
  • We support the acquisition of necessary permits for conducting research, including approvals for the contained use of GMOs and consents from the Local Ethics Committee.
  • We monitor the use of laboratory animals in scientific research conducted at the Institute.
  • We manage an e-learning training programme that prepares English-speaking researchers employed in Poland to conduct research involving animals.
  • We prepare and submit applications for research infrastructure.
  • We handle institutional reporting and coordinate preparations for the evaluation of IIMCB’s scientific activity.
  • We document the societal impact of research projects.
  • We assist in the preparation and submission of applications for individual and team awards.

The SCU team is composed of professionals with hands-on research experience in the biological sciences, which allows us to effectively address the specific needs of our scientists. Grounded in both national and international regulations, we provide practical support and expert advice to the researchers, jointly fostering scientific excellence at the IIMCB.

  • We offer individual consulting and conduct thematic training sessions.
  • We establish work schedules, ensuring timely and complete submission of proposals.
  • We guarantee the formal and financial accuracy of applications.
  • We coordinate cooperation with internal departments and funding agencies.
  • We support project implementation in line with the requirements of funding institutions and internal regulations.
  • We provide ongoing administrative, financial, and HR support for projects.
  • We offer strategic advice, including in complex project situations.
  • We coordinate and prepare financial reports for projects.
  • We manage and coordinate external audits.
  • We integrate standards on ethics, data management, scientific communication, and gender equality, in accordance with the requirements of funding agencies.

The IT team provides access to modern IT infrastructure and offers professional technical support.

  • We configure computer hardware and software necessary for research work, including specialized applications.
  • We offer ongoing technical assistance (helpdesk), resolving issues related to hardware, software, and network access.
  • We also provide guidance on the selection and purchase of specialized equipment and software within the framework of research grant projects.

The Communications Office helps researchers take their work beyond the walls of the laboratory. Our goal is simple: to help scientists reach wider audiences and foster public understanding of science.

  • We support researchers in communicating with the media: we prepare press releases, arrange interviews, and help scientists get ready for them.
  • We help shape personal visibility and craft effective messages: we make sure that research stories are clear, and compelling.
  • We promote scientific discoveries: using IIMCB’s own channels — the website and social media.
  • We support recruitment: we help attract study participants.

Our mission is to ensure that both science and the people behind it are seen, heard, and understood.
